i am a concern parent: DID YOU KNOW 12 YR OLDS CAN MAKE ADULT CHOICES TO LIVE ON THEIR OWN AND PARENTS HAVE NO SAY.
DID YOU KNOW THAT THE GOVERNMENT CHANGED THE LAW THAT SAYS KIDS HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL WE FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS REGISTER YOUR CHILD AND THEN THEY CAN SKIP ALL YEAR AND THEY WONDER WHY THE LAWS ARE BROKE AND KIDS, TEENS AND ADOLESENTS GET IN TROUBLE WITH THE LAW.
WE ALL HAVE TO WAKE UP AND STAND TOGETHER AND STOP LETTING THE GOVERNMENT CHANGE ALL POLICIES WITHOUT US VOTERS

The over $12 Billion surplus the Conservatives inherited from the Martin goverment is already long gone, primarily to buy votes. The entire GST reduction was done against the advice of virtually all economists (not liberal economists but those for major financial institutions, business, etc) where the consensus is consuption taxes are the fairest form of taxation, unlike income taxes.

However, the Conservatives felt uninformed voters would see this as something they were being given by the Conservative Party.

On a recent CBC radio discussion with people in Nunavut and the NWT, one thing several Arctic residents noted is they have received quite a few visits from Government Ministers and Conservative aides, but they are only interested in what they see as the economic benefits of global warming (shipping in the soon to be ice free NorthWest Passage, resource extraction) not in the life of the people or in working to avoid the catastrophic effects of warming.

In the words of one of Canada's foremost political historians: "Stephen Harper's tendencies are not democratic. He has little patience with criticism, whether from within his own party or from the public."
